Concrete prefab homes do not all leave the factory in the same form

If you want a contemporary home without choosing timber construction, concrete prefab housing is worth exploring. The material name alone does not explain how much work occurs in a factory or how the home reaches the plot.

Ask what is transported

A useful first distinction is between prefabricated elements assembled into a building and three-dimensional volumes delivered with parts of the spaces already formed. Systems can also combine approaches. Ask the provider to draw the actual sequence: what leaves the factory and what is carried out on site.

Bohome describes its process as modular concrete construction. inHAUS also publishes information about its industrialised housing approach. These are starting points for examining specific offers, not evidence that all manufacturers work alike or a basis for ranking their quality without assessment.

Separate material, finish and performance

A concrete-looking façade does not establish the structural system. Request wall assemblies, structural information, service details and finish scope. For comfort, ask for project-specific justification. One material does not automatically guarantee an energy rating, acoustic performance or maintenance cost.

Discuss foundations, assembly, element connections and junction finishing. Identify the company coordinating each stage and how checks will be documented. Include delivery and lifting equipment in comparable scopes, rather than relying only on catalogue area.

Send several providers the same needs brief and plot information. Request identical finish and work scopes with exclusions listed. This helps separate the effect of the construction system from the effect of buying more or fewer services.

Choosing concrete is a reasonable preference. Understanding the manufacturing and site sequence makes it a more informed one.
