Fire safety cannot be reduced to selecting mineral wool or PIR. The technical file must connect building use, protection design and product and assembly performance. For a manufacturer, documents that make the solution reproducible matter alongside the original test.
Two different questions
Reaction to fire describes a product’s behaviour in fire. Fire resistance concerns maintaining specified functions for a period. In common classifications, R denotes loadbearing capacity, E integrity and I insulation. An EI60 claim does not by itself establish R60 loadbearing performance of the frame.
DB SI is the Spanish reference. Conditions must be established for the project’s use, configuration and elements; all capsule homes cannot be assigned one universal requirement. A panel result also cannot automatically be transferred to a wall with different joints, openings and service penetrations.
Review the report’s scope
Our procurement recommendation is to identify manufacturer, system reference, build-up, fixings, dimensions and field of application. Changes to insulation, lining or assembly require checking whether the evidence remains valid. A laboratory name cannot replace reading its report.
Control site delivery
- Product and thickness traceability.
- Joint and penetration details.
- Compatible doors, interfaces and seals.
- Records of approved substitutions.
- Final documents for designer and owner.
